Eau Claire, MI 49111 Piedt Farms grows over 200 acres of fruit and vegetables including cherries, peaches, nectarines, squash, grapes, and apples of various varieties. We employ a total of 30 to 40 seasonal people to harvest the various crops. Along with harvesting there are the other duties on an as needed basis, such as hoeing, weeding, & trimming. Grapes are mechanically harvested by a crew of 7-9 persons. Cherries are mechanically harvested and hand harvested. The rest of our crops are hand harvested. We also employ between 10-15 people to work in our packing shed, bagging fruit. Most of our work is piece rate, however, we do have some hourly work between harvest times. We supply approved housing to our employees in our family size units. There is no deposit or rent charge required but workers pay for utilities. We guarantee minimum wage and our employees are covered by workers compensation. Within the area, there is a newly built Migrant Head Start School/Day Care Center, operated by Telemon Corporation, that is available for infants through 6 years old. The Head Start Program provides school bus transportation. There is also a Migrant Health Clinic nearby. Employees that stay with us during our entire harvest season will receive a bonus based on the amount of fruit picked by them during the season.
