Gary Bartley Farms is a 300 acre fruit and vegetable farm. Owned and operated by Gary and Patty Bartley for over 27 years. Gary Bartley Farms employs a total of 30 to 40 seasonal workers.

The harvest season beginson May 1 and runs through October 30. Apples, winter squash, zucchini, and cukes are harvested throughout the season. Apples, winter squash, zucchini, and cukes are hand harvested and paid by piece rate; employer guarantees the Michigan minimum wage.

Along with harvesting there are other general labor duties on an as needed basis; such as, packing house work, cultivating land for new harvest, lay/remove plastic on field rows, lay/remove irrigation pipes, and some general clean-up of the fields. All general labor duties are paid at $7.15 an hour. There are 12 MDA approved living units with no deposit or charge for utilities.

A laundry area is available on site for Gary Bartley Farms employees. Employer provides Workers Compensation & Unemployment Benefits. Within the area, there is a Migrant Health Clinic/WIC Office, Migrant Head Start for children 5 and under as well as local schools with bus services for students K-12th.
