Gummer Peat Company, Inc., located in Lakeview, Michigan is family owned and managed. The business enterprise has provided high quality earth and farm product soils to professional growers, nurseries, and consumers since 1957. Packaging peat, topsoil, and potting soil, are just a few products that are processed at the plant. Our peak season is from March until June. We hire 20 productions workers who engage in processing and packaging of all company products.

Job description: Removes bags from conveyor and stacks on pallets. Operates hi/lo (if experienced) to transport pallets from work area to stretch wrapper and from stretch wrapper to the storage area. Assists machine operator with preparing lines for operation, alternating between products, and repairs on the conveyor.

Workers are paid hourly with overtime and bonuses available. Workers start out at $7.40 per hour and can quickly receive bonuses for punctuality and attendance. There are two shifts offered. First shift is from 7:00 am -3: 30 pm and the second shift is from 3:30 pm -12:00 am. We are looking for seasonal farm workers who need earlier seasonal jobs. Would be willing to negotiate times to fill in between jobs. We will pay your travel time for up to one hour per day, as we do not provide housing. All workers are covered by unemployment and workers compensation.
